What are the University Curriculum Committee deadlines for approving a course or program for online delivery?

The University Curriculum Committee deadlines are the same for online delivery as for other methods of delivery. Visit the curriculum website for deadlines and information about course and program proposals.

How do I process overrides to allow students into my course?

Follow the instructions below to grant students an override for your course in ARIESweb:

  • Log onto ARIESweb
  • Look -up student in ARIESweb Quick Search using name, CSUID, etc.
  • On the student information screen, scroll down to the bottom and click “Instructor Overrides” under Adviser Student Tools
  • Select the appropriate term
  • Click on the drop down menu under the Course column and choose the course
  • Click on the drop down menu under the Override column and select the override type
  • Once the desired overrides have been entered click “Submit”
  • You will be given a confirmation that the override has been saved successfully. You can click “back to ARIESweb” in the top left corner to look up a different student.

What are the instructional requirements if the course is designated as a lab?

According to the Curricular Policies and Procedures Handbook maintained by the University Curriculum Committee, laboratory activities are defined as follows:

  1. Laboratories (academic or clinical) are instructional activities conducted by the faculty which require student participation, experimentation, observation, or practice. A minimum number of 2.0 base contact hours per week is needed to generate one course credit.
  2. Laboratories (vocational/technical) are instructional activities involving training for employment in a work-like environment in which faculty take an active teaching role. A minimum number of 1.5 base contact hours per week is needed to generate one course credit.
