NR 571 - New Media Communications for Conservation

Fundamentals of new media, including digital and social media, and popular applications are introduced and evaluated with regard to their relevance for conservation communications. New and emerging digital media channels are discussed and evaluated relating to their use and relevance for conservation organizations and management outcomes

Jamie Dahl (she/her) is an instructor in Human Dimensions of Natural Resources and program lead for the Communications for Conservation Graduate Certificate. She is a Doctoral Candidate, in Education and Human Resources Studies at Colorado State University. Her research focus is on diversity and inclusion within the natural resource professions using an environmental justice frame. Her prior work and education experiences include forest management, volunteer management, training, extension outreach, career coaching, education, and research consulting. She has been an active member of the Society of American Foresters for over 20 years and serves as the chair of SAF’s Diversity and Inclusion Working Group. Jamie is also an active Project Learning Tree Facilitator.
