EDAE 520 - Adult Education

This introductory course covers the philosophical foundations, a description of program service areas, adult participation trends, and current issues. The goal for this course is the ability to articulate the foundations and the current situation of adult education as a field of study and practice.

Lauren Vilen holds a M.Ed. in Education and Human Resources Studies with a Specialization in Adult Education and Training from Colorado State University and a B.A. in Studio Arts from Hamline University. Lauren’s research interests include adult teaching and learning theory, environmental adult education, community-based education, and the professional identity and development of non-formal educators. Lauren’s professional background includes public lands management and non-profit program management, where she developed and implemented service-learning programs and provided young adults with training and education focused on environmental stewardship and job readiness in the natural resource field.
